Have you ever felt your current Clubhouse username no longer represents who you are? Or maybe due to the excitement of finally getting an invitation, you didn’t take your time to think through the username when you first created your account?

Whatever the reason you want to change your username, we’re here to help you.

In this article, we’ll show you how to change your Clubhouse username, as well as cover some reasons why you may want to.

How to Change Your Clubhouse Username

You don't have to deactivate your Clubhouse account or create another account to change your username. Clubhouse has made it relatively easy.

Here’s how to get started changing your username on the app:

  1. Launch the Clubhouse app on your phone.
  2. Navigate to your profile.
  3. Tap on your username.

This takes you to a Change Your Username? page. Here you can edit your old username or type in another username entirely.

It's important to note that you can only do this once though.

If you’ve changed your username before, you'll have to request the change via the Clubhouse support team.

To do this, simply visit the Submit Request page, select Community Support Help Request, and fill the form stating your desired change, and submit. Your request should include your current username and the new username you want.

The support staff will help you change the username from their end.

Clubhouse says it considers these requests on a case-by-case basis, which probably means not all requests are accepted. So you may need to have a valid reason for a second change.

Why You May Want to Change Your Clubhouse Username

Wanting to change your username is perfectly normal.

If after using the platform for a while you realize your username no longer represents who you are or what you stand for, you can always have it changed.

Here are some of the most common reasons why people change their usernames:

  • The username does not represent you well anymore (i.e.: change in name, work, etc.).
  • The username is too long or difficult to remember.
  • The username is inconsistent with your username on other social networks.
  • The username includes a mistake or was misspelled.

Choosing the Right Clubhouse Username

It’s okay to want to change your username. However, if you find you’re having to change your username frequently, then it’s probably time to think more strategically about it.

Instead of using a nickname or a work-related handle, consider using your real name or the name you’re using on your other social media handles. This will help you be consistent and not need to change your username too frequently.
