You likely have to wake up to your alarm clock most days of the week. Since it's the first sound you'll hear every morning, it's a good idea to have an iPhone alarm sound that you like. Nothing is worse than waking up to a sound that irritates or angers you; and if the alarm has stopped waking you up, it defeats the entire purpose.

Luckily, changing your alarm clock sound on iPhone is relatively straightforward.

Change Your Alarm Clock Sound Through the Clock App

The native iOS Clock app offers a variety of sounds for your alarm, and changing from the default sound to a new one is quick and easy. Here's what you need to do:

  1. On the Clock app and tap on the Alarm tab using the bottom menu.
  2. Tap Edit in the top-left corner, and then select the alarm you wish to change the sound to.
  3. Tap on Sound, located halfway down the screen.
  4. Choose any of the sounds available, they will play when you tap on them so you can preview them.
  5. Tap Save.

You can also change your alarm sound to a purchased tone that you bought through the iTunes store. We don't recommend buying any tones, since there is an array of ringtones you can add to your iPhone for free, that can also be used as alarm sounds.

Apple doesn't make it easy to add these to iPhones, but another option is to simply create a ringtone from scratch.

The Morning's Here

Waking up to a sound that gets you up and doesn't irritate you is the blueprint for starting your day off correctly. By following the above steps, you should have switched to a sound that works for you.

If the sound isn't the problem, for instance, if you're a serial snooze-presser, you may want to try looking for alternative alarm apps, such as ones that go above and beyond just making noise.
