I recently installed Speedbit Video Accelerator. The default search engine keeps changing to "Speedbit Search" when I want it on "Google". Whenever I change it to "Google" it turns back to "Speedbit Search" after I reboot my computer. I tried uninstalling Speedbit Video Accelerator, but that didn't fix the problem. I also tried to delete the Speedbit Search engine from the list of saved search engines, but that didn't work either.

Cristián, have you made any progress with this? If so, how did you solve the problem? If not, can you give us a rundown of what you have tried so far so that we can avoid going over the steps you've already taken?Oron ( ;

Go to the extensions page in chrome and see if there is anything installed by speedbit. If there is, remove it (click on the little trash icon to the right of the extension's name).

And if there isn't? I ask because I couldn't find anything that matched your criteria in the list of installed extensions.

In addition to Hovsep's excellent suggestion, you can also scan your disc with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Free, which you can download from http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free/. This will identify whatever bits & pieces have been left over after you removed Speedbit VA. You should then reboot the system, double check Chrome's extensions to make sure there's nothing there that's crawled in under the radar, and only then reset Chrome's search engine settings. I would also recommend checking all other browsers installed on your computer, whether you use them or not, as they too could have been affected.

That didn't fix the problem unfortunately. Speedbit Search will still automatically switch back.

There's nothing after Chrome in the target.

Here is the Speedbit support page for changing the default search settings back: http://www.videoaccelerator.com/help/uninstall/. Also, you can go to "about:flags" and press the "reset to default" button in the top right corner. If you had changed any of the settings in about:flags before installing Speedbit, these settings will be reset to default. Make note of any changes you made before resetting to default.

The link you sent me tells me to do basically what I've already done. Resetting to default in the about:flags menu didn't change anything.

Haha that fixed it! I guess all I had to do was clear my browsing data! :) Thanks so much for the help.
