For a 30 seconds clip in PAL DVD format (704x576, 25 fps, 24 bpp) with stereo sound in a sample rate of 48 kHz, how many bytes are needed?
I think it should be this - {704x576x24x25x30 + 48000x16(bits per sample)x2(stereo) } /1024 =7129500kb
But that seems way to big, can anyone help?

Thats very hard to say but divide by 1024 and you should get the figure.

It depends on lots of factors...video quality, frame rate, codec used, video length....there is no fixed formula.

duration x bitrate = file size bitrate is the sum of audio and video bitratesadjust for bits/byte: 8 bits per byte

Hard to say for me, but I can see that for a 30sec video the output size is simply too big!!!
