Basically what I intend to do is to use this particular method for transferring files between these devices and Ubuntu/Windows laptops. But I don't know how. Could you help me? Thanks.

I use File Expert for all of my connection needs. It even has WiFi Direct support besides Web sharing, ftp, samba etc...
