I managed to copy and move my user profile from C:\Users\ to E:\ after a few attempts with the help of instructions given in the MakeUseOf guide "Stuff Happens: The PC Backup and Restore Guide". But I used the /J switch (rather than the /D switch) to create a junction that's a hard symlink (if you use the /D switch, you'll also have to edit the registry, because it won't be a hard link). I have been running the new setup for several weeks now, but there have been some problems. Firstly, I managed to complete this process in 3 attempts because the first two attempts failed and I guess there was some loss of appdata as when I logged in after the reboot, I found that many programs including Firefox were running on default settings rather than my configured settings. Secondly, mouse clicks have been behaving strangely. Double clicks occur when I intend to make a single click, I am unable to highlight sentences on a page because the mouse wouldn't select stuff even with the left button pressed down, etc. (very frustrating!!!). Thirdly, ever since, my Nvidia display driver fails often (and then automatically recovers). Fourthly, Firefox has been crashing a lot lately. Lastly, the Blue Screen of Death is now a frequent occurrence.
So can you suggest me some measures to rectify these problems? Is it now safe to delete my old user profile under C:\Users along with the administrator accounts I created for this purpose? Please reply asap. Any sort of help will be highly appreciated.
