All of the other devices in the house are perfectly fine connecting to the Internet and have around 10-50mbps Internet speed. My desktop only reaches around 1mbps.
We have recently joined onto NBN, National Broadband, which is supposed to be 20% times faster than copper cable internet in Australia. YouTube won't load because the speed is too slow, I only get 1mbps if I am lucky.
Please help me, I don't know what's wrong.

How is your PC connected to the internet? Is it wireless or wired.Have you checked your firewall settings, thats always a good starting point?

Do this computer connects via WiFi or cable to the router? If, wifi, try a cable connection and see if there is any difference. Try a TCP MTU tweaking tool to tweak the TCP/IP stack. Use the TCP Optimizer software from http://www.speedguide.net/downloads.php and probaly set the MTU value to 1500 or ask your ISP for the ideal settings.

Also before what I advised :1. Clean viruses, malware and spywares.2. Uninstall all unnecessary bloatwares.3. Optimize your registry by ccleaner type of software.4. Delete of all temporary files, cache and history by ccleaner type of software. Then restart your computer and check. If there is still no change, then try the TCP/IP MTU tweak probably, but do take the correct optimal values to pass from your ISP customer service.A bit advanced trouble shooting is do a winsock fix of your registry. I do a manual fix but probably you can use a tool like http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Network-Tweak/WinSockFix.shtml
