I believe it depends on how and where you were scammed - if it occurred in your own country and you have evidence of the crime, then the chances for a legal remedy may actually be good. But in all honesty, I have no idea.Google is known to turn over their client's data when a crime is committed (and the government demands user data). Because of Google's transparency policy, it became known that Google turns over user data in 94% of government requests. By "government request" they mean once you get a court order to turn that data over, it's highly likely that they will.http://www.theregister.co.uk/2011/06/27/google_user_data_subpoenas/That could mean if you hire a lawyer (or at least talk to one), your chances, according to the Register article, are pretty good. Wire fraud is also a federal crime, which may complicate any kind of civil lawsuit.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mail_and_wire_fraudBest of luck!

As others indicated, YOU probably can't find the scammer. However, if he committed a crime against you (e.g. got money off you on false pretense) then you can report it to the police (in some countries there are special branches for computer crime, in others you just report it to the local police) and they should chase it up like any other crime. Again, depending on the nature of the complaint, they may have the legal powers to require Google to hand over details of the email communication, including IP address and registration details, which may allow them to trace the perpetrator.Good luck!

Hello, it is almost impossible to do this specially if using a gmail account. One of the ways if not the only one is to report the address to gmail. Keep in mind that if that person has scammed other people and they also reported him, there is a stronger possibility at least that the account would be closed.

Short answer, You Cant! What you can do is report them to Gmail (Google): http://support.google.com/mail/bin/request.py?hl=en&contact_type=abuse

They probably get thousands of emails complaining abuse and will do nothing to help the situation.
