This complements my other post - regarding looking for part-time tech work.
I'm sure the owners of this website realize there are many people out there who don't have the tech background to understand and make use of the "MakeUseOf articles" - or don't have a passion for discovering new software and Internet services, even if they're somewhat tech savvy.
How about the idea of some "MakeUseOf" type certifications to add credibility to those looking for jobs to help others become more productive in their day-to-day work using free or low-cost software?
Most - probably all - of the training materials are already on the site and free to access - this doesn't mean they are being discovered and used by the many people that might benefit from them given the difficulty in discovering exactly the right ones for their particular needs, or their tech experience 'habits of use'. The MUO certified person would help them in the discovery and adoption of free or low-cost software that simplifies their work tasks - administrative or otherwise.
Certainly the site itself contains enough training material for this goal - the hard part would be to formalize and select which aspects would make sense to 'certify' in for given areas, given the wide range of customers, applications, needs, etc.
If you like the idea, please include me in it's startup - I'd like to be one of the first :)
