House of Marley is launching its new Get Together Duo wireless bookshelf speakers, continuing the company's push to use sustainable materials in as many products as possible. House of Marley has spoken out many times on sustainability issues, and reducing the company's footprint and integrating responsibly sourced materials is a great step towards that ethos.

House of Marley Continues Sustainability Push

First of all, the Get Together Duo speakers look great. They're fronted with stylish bamboo and will look excellent on any bookshelf. The nicely curved lines and beveled woofer and tweeter housings deliver a simplistic symmetry, while the dark external casing offsets the bamboo for some extra aesthetic points.

Talking of the dark external casing, House of Marley uses REWIND Fabric, a "hard-wearing" material woven from recycled materials. REWIND Fabric uses a blend of 30 percent reclaimed organic cotton, 30 percent reclaimed hemp, and 40 percent recycled PET, combining the sustainable materials into a strong end-product that is also good for audio hardware.

Along with the use of sustainable materials, the Get Together Duo packs a decent audio punch. Each speaker enclosure comes with a 3.5-inch woofer and a 1-inch tweeter, combining to deliver 40W (20W per speaker). Each speaker is independently powered, while the right speaker contains a 20-hour rechargeable battery.

The battery takes around eight hours to reach a full charge and doesn't feature a fast-charging option, but the 5200mAh battery should deliver a real punch while using it out and about.

The speakers come equipped with Bluetooth 5.0, which allows them to pair with each other and the broadcast device. But if you prefer a wired connection, as many do, both speakers feature standard RCA phono ports, as well as a direct 3.5mm AUX option.

Sustainable Products Look and Sound Great and Help the Environment

House of Marley's Get Together Duo is a shining example of how products that use (some) sustainable materials can look fantastic, sound brilliant, and help to reduce their overall footprint on the planet.

No one is under the illusion that the internal workings of the Get Together Duo don't use materials requiring extensive manufacturing. It would be wrong to suggest otherwise. But if more companies take steps to reduce the impact of different aspects of their hardware, it eventually begins to add up.

The Get Together Duo wireless bookshelf speakers are available from House of Marley for $150.
