(This is a 80 gb Hitachi HDS728080PLAT20 sold by Edge Tech DiskGo)

Had issue where I had to shut everything down via the power strip (bad, I know!). Was not getting green light when I turned on power to external disk - replaced power adapter cord - got green light. Yet disk would not spin. Tried a new enclosure - still nothing. Tried gently shaking to loosen possible stuck head. No go.

Any ideas?

Check to see if it shows up in the BIOS. Also make sure all connections to it are firmly in place.

James,is your issue still persisting?Does the hard drive make any sounds?Did you hook it up to another computer? The following may sound crazy, but even if it does not work, it won't damage your hard drive. Pack it into an airtight plastic bag, freeze it over night, then try to run it. If that doesn't work, let it sit at room temperature for a day or two and try again.
