I would like to back up some important files by uploading them, via FTP, to my website domain space. Before doing so, I will encrypt them as an added layer of security. However, despite them being encrypted, I don't want any casual hackers finding the files and I definitely don't want them indexed on Google.

Is there anything I can do to ensure that they stay hidden on my web domain? Any tips and tricks you could offer to make sure the files stay invisible to everyone except me?
