Is there any hardware that would be compatible with Windows 7 but not with Windows 8?

The brother printer is not compatible without the upgrade.

I think its highly rarethat you will have problems using Windows 8 on some hardware which was fine with Windows 7.

This is a tough question because Windows 8 hasn't come out yet, but from personal experience, I can tell you that the problems most people experienced in the upgrade from XP to Windows 7 will likely rear their ugly head again in upgrading to Windows 8. In fact,
if you check Google
, there's a huge volume of tech support questionings dealing with this problem. For the most part, these upgrade issues will be specific to the function keys on laptops. The reason why is that a lot of laptop manufacturers created proprietary software solutions for such features as using the FN +another key to: manage monitor out/shut off WiFi, enter sleep mode, and so on. When the upgrade came, they had already moved onto their newest line of laptops. Their solution was to simply buy a newer machine. But anyway, a lot of laptops that were upgraded from XP (and rarely Vista) to Windows 7 lost the ability to manage these featuring using function key combos. It's easy to imagine something similar happening in the upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 8 and it will more than likely effect laptops disproportionately. The worst hit market segment will be XP machines, since they are even further deprecated by both MS and manufacturers. And, logically, the group probably shouldn't upgrade at all are people owning an XP laptop.

Highly unlikely.. If it works with Win7, it should with Win 8.

The RT version of Windows 8 will be incompatible with many hardware such as a list of hundreds of printers ,camera, scanners as Microsoft didn't want any unnecessary processes in background.http://www.tomshardware.com/news/Windows-RT-Inkjet-colorjet-printers-Steven-Sinofsky,18593.html

it should work on any laptop or desktop unless that laptop/PC is decades oldbasically if it was able to run windows 7 then it should run W8 easilybut even then it's a good idea to check to hardware compatibility on MS site

all what you need is to read this articlehttp://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/system-requirements
2012-10-28 21:21:07
As I've seen some reviews, I think the requirements are almost the same as Win 7!But, I think that even for old hardware, there might be a driver update available for it!Also, if there is a driver available for the hardware you have, for win 8, it's better doing an upgrade for that driver..., since it will have less bugs!

Most likely it should work if it works well with Windows 7.
2012-10-28 11:23:03
Almost Everything that's compatible with Windows 7 is also compatible with Windows 8.

u can check uhere....http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/compatibility/win8/CompatCenter/Home?Language=en-US

Use Compatibility Center for Windows 8 to check whether your hardware or software will work with Windows 8http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/compatibility/win8/CompatCenter/Home?Language=en-USMicrosoft recommends:•1 GHz or faster processor •1 GB RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit) •16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit) •DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver
2012-10-28 06:35:00
I think the windows 7 and windows 8 have a majority similar requirements!

If the machine is working perfectly fine with Win7, I don't see any reason why Win8 wouldn't be compatible. The Sys Req for both are almost same Win8 : http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/system-requirements Win7 : http://windows.microsoft.com/is-IS/windows7/products/system-requirementsThere might be instances of issues with the drivers for peripherals and other add-on hardware.Still, this is very rare if the device was working fine on Win7. The built-in drivers in Win8 should work fine. Some of the hardware vendors already started releasing Win8 compatible drivers. So I really don't find this a big issue unless you have a really outdated hardware. In the mean while you can go through following link, might be helpful : [Broken Link Removed]

The processor must be at least 1GHZ, and the graphics card must support at least DirectX 9. There must be 1GB at least of ram and 16 gb of storage available.

It's a pretty lenient requirementa compared to today's computers' capabilities, so you won't get in any trouble finding the necessary hardwares.I'd recommend finding ones with higher requirements though. Windows' basic requirements list the very minimal setup to run the OS, but that wouldn't give you much power.
2012-10-28 04:00:26
It is possible but unlikely. But you are always better off checking out the Hardware Compatibility List for the appropriate OS to make sure your hardware is on it or run whatever they are calling the current upgrade assistant to check out your hardware and software to make sure they will work or it will point you to locations that will let you know where to get software patches/upgrades for the software that won't work as well as listing the hardware that doesn't have appropriate drivers. BTW, OS developers don't list that hardware that it doesn't work with; it is always a list of what will work.
