Windows Vista won't boot. I can run Maverick Meercat off a CD.

Tried Darik's Boot and Nuke to:

- find the hard drive,

- then wipe it

DBAN sits on a blue screen saying:

- PCI (sysfs)

Stupid question, but is all this enough evidence to suggest the hard drive is buggered?

I know a Hiren Boot CD has different manufacturer's programs for wiping hard drives.

Depends on the make. Seagate insist on you trying the drive with their diagnostic utility. Have a look at your hard drive's web site and see what their warranty policy says.
