The Beeple Discord server has been compromised by hackers looking to drain wallets via infected URLs.

Beeple Discord Members at Risk of Wallet Hacks

On October 3rd, 2022, popular NFT artist Beeple tweeted a warning to his 700,000 followers about a dangerous Discord scam affecting members of the Beeple server. The artist stated that the URLs leading to the Beeple server were compromised so that users were redirected to a fraudulent page capable of draining wallets.

In the same tweet, Beeple criticized Discord, sarcastically thanking the platform for "being garbage".

Beeple's Discord server is designed to benefit those who collect his NFTs. To join the server, users must verify NFT ownership within their wallet, a step that attackers are now capitalizing on. When a user verifies and connects their wallet via the malicious page, it can be drained of its NFTs.

Beeple Server Hack Identified by NFT Collector

This dangerous exploit seems to have been initially highlighted by Twitter user and NFT collector @maxnaut. Just an hour before Beeple warned his followers of the attack, @maxnaut tweeted at the artist stating that their 2020 EVERYDAYS NFT collection contains a link leading to a wallet drainer page.

Within their tweet, @maxnaut included a screenshot of the link being shared in a Discord chat, which seems to lead to a phony CollabLand page. It is not yet known whether anyone has fallen victim to this scam, though it poses a significant risk to collectors.

Beeple Collectors Have Been Targeted Before

This dangerous scam isn't the first to be used against Beeple's fans. In May 2022, Beeple's Twitter account was hacked and leveraged in a phishing attack which resulted in the theft of over $400,000 in crypto and NFTs.

The hack lasted around five hours, giving the attackers plenty of time to swindle users via malicious links. Two separate links were tweeted during the hack, each leading to a page designed to drain victims' MetaMask wallets of Ether and NFTs.

Cybercriminals Continue to Exploit Crypto and NFT Holders

Today, cybercrime is worryingly prevalent in the cryptocurrency and NFT industries. Hackers have devised various ways through which they can trick victims out of their funds, with billions of dollars worth of digital assets having already been stolen. This is why it's crucial to safeguard your NFTs and crypto funds in every way possible and stay updated on new scams within the industry.
