One of the best features of iOS 14 is widgets. Sure, Android has offered them for years, but that doesn't make them any less enjoyable on iOS devices.

Google has jumped into the world of iOS widgets with a really well-designed one for its Google Search app, as the company announced on The Keyword. In fact, the widget is so nice, that some Android fans are complaining that it's better than Google's own widgets on Android.

What Does the New Google Widget Do?

The general idea behind Google's new widget is to make it easier for you to search the web from the home screen of your iOS device. Instead of having to launch a browser to find what you're looking for, you can simply tap on the widget and get what you need.

There are two different widgets available---a small one that is only for searching with text and a larger widget that offers regular search, lens search, and an incognito search. If you regularly use Google to search the web (and who doesn't?), this is definitely a widget you'll want to install on your iOS device's screen.

Google Widget iOS 14

The main thing that makes the Home Screen Widget from Google even more interesting is how nice it looks and how clean the functionality is. It's incredibly streamlined and looks like it's part of iOS rather than a functionality offered by a third-party app.

Google definitely did a fantastic job, and it makes us hopeful for what other third-party apps could do with widgets on iOS 14.

How to Try the Google Home Screen Widget

In order to get the widget on your home screen, you'll need to download the Google app from the App Store.

Once you have it installed, you can edit your home screen, click the "+" in the top corner of the screen, and then choose the Google widget. From there, you'll be able to pick between the two widgets to find the one that suits your needs.
