When it comes to technology, the current generation of children is miles ahead of previous ones. They grow up with tablets and smartphones in their hands.

However, just because kids are adept with technology doesn't mean that the entire world of tech is safe for them. There's a lot of stuff on the internet that kids just shouldn't see.

That's why Google is introducing Kids Space, a special tablet mode that's specifically designed for children. The company announced the new feature on The Keyword, and it sounds quite useful.

What Is Google Kids Space?

Google Kids Space is all about creating a place that's safe for kids on select tablets. It will provide children with apps, books, and videos that will help them explore, learn, and have a good time.

Children are able to select their interests and Kids Space will show them safe things that fall within those interests. It will offer content recommendations for kids each day, allowing them to stay busy while learning and having fun.

As you might expect, Kids Space has plenty of apps available for kids to enjoy. All of these apps are vetted by Google to make sure they're safe for kids. There are also 400 free books available in the US for kids to read.

YouTube Kids is also heavily integrated into Kids Space. Google has selected engaging videos that encourage off-screen activities, which makes for a great way to get your kids outside having fun.

Outside of the content offered with Kids Space, parents can also download apps for their children from Google Play. This opens up the entire Android world, but only parents can download these apps, keeping Kids Space safe for children.

Kids Space Availability

Unfortunately, Kids Space isn't widely available yet. Google is rolling it out to select Lenovo tablets including the new Lenovo Smart Tab M10 HD Gen 2. However, Google says that it will bring the feature to more Android tablets soon.
