Looking for a list of some free, commercial friendly programs for a help desk technician position.
Note: I am NOT looking for non-commercial freeware, but a list of programs that are free, useful and business friendly.
Thanks!

It always depends on what type of support you offer (Software, Hardware, over the phone) and if it's Windows only, Mac, Linux, all of them... In general I think all the NirSoft tools (www.nirsoft.net) should be on one of your USB-Sticks, BartPE CD's or whatever you are using.The second
package of tools
I suggest are Sysinternals from Microsoft. They usually come in handy once in a while. www.sysinternals.comOther than those I keep the following tools on the same USB-Stick:- UniExtract http://legroom.net/software/uniextract- UnknownDevices http://www.halfdone.com/ukd/- Victoria 4.46b http://www.hdd-911.com/ (not good for the average user)+ some commercial and/or
internal
tools and scriptsNext to this USB-Stick packed with tools I keep a bootable USB Drive + CD (same contents) with things like various AntiVirus Rescue CD's, ntpasswd, DBAN, Gparted, Parted Magic, Memtest86+ (although this is included with most Rescue CDs), SeaTools, Trinity Rescue Kit, etc...As for Mac I usually have an bootable USB Hard Drive around with an bootable Mac OS X 10.5 system including various tools: freeware like Carbon Copy Cloner, PhotoRec, TestDisk, iPhone/iPod tools, Networking tools like iStumbler, Bonjour Browser, ...commercial things like R-Studio, Data Rescue 3, ...bootable Partitions inlcuding Mac OS X 10.4/10.5/10.6 Installation DVD, DiskWarrior, ...I don't really do Linux support so no suggestions there
