Oleg,I see you are using a Mac. I recently had to do this very task and came across two tools that function as excellent data recovery programs. One is called TestDisk and the other PhotoRec, and both can be downloaded from: http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/PhotoRec, as the name suggests, is designed for the recovery of photos from media such as memory cards and USB flash drives, and both use the Terminal interface. You will need to download and run the executable, which requires root privileges to run successfully. With PhotoRec this is simple, if it doesn't have root it restarts with the sudo command, into which you type your user account password.TestDisk is a partition recovery tool, which provides a lot more power for the recovery of whole partitions. PhotoRec should be suitable for your particular needs, I assume. It can look a little daunting to begin with, what with it being a terminal tool, but stick with it and read the detailed instructions found over at: http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/PhotoRec_Step_By_StepIf it's other data you want to recover, TestDisk also has step-by-step instructions: http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk_Step_By_StepPhotoRec should work for most photo recovery tasks, it's completely free and open source. I used to use Recuva on Windows and I'd say this is just as easy to use despite not having a pretty GUI. I wouldn't personally pay for software with such a great free tool at your disposal. One very important tip is to NOT WRITE to the volume you wish to recover FROM. PhotoRec will ask which directory you want to use to save recovered data - choose something on a local disk or external hard drive, not the SD card itself. The more data is written to the drive the less likely data recovery becomes.Good luck.

I've just realised we have an article about using these tools:http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/recover-deleted-files-from-your-linux-system/The instructions are for Linux, but the process is identical!Tim
