Do you have way too many useless emails from the same sender? Are you struggling to delete emails before your inbox gets filled again? Even if you manually delete them a couple of times each day, there’s a chance you can’t keep up.

Fortunately, if you want to declutter your inbox, you can actually delete all emails from one sender in Gmail. We’ll walk you through three methods on how to select and delete emails from a specific sender. Give each one a try and check which one works best for you.

1. Select All Email From That Sender

This might be the easiest solution if you want to delete every email from a specific sender. Go to your Inbox and right-click one of the emails you’ve received from that frequent sender. It doesn’t matter if you’ve already read the email. Then, in the context menu, select Find emails from Sender.

Gmail will now put together a list of all the emails received from that sender. You can take a quick look and decide if you want to keep some of them or delete them all. To delete all emails, check the Select option placed above the sender’s name. Then, click the Delete button.

By default, Gmail will show only the emails that are in the Inbox folder. If you want to delete the emails from the same sender in your Spam folder, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click View More.

2. Use a Search Operator to Find the Emails

Another quick method you could use to find every email you’ve received from a specific account is to use a search operator. In this case, the from operator will help you fetch the desired emails.

In Gmail, enter from: Sender Name and click Enter. You’ll see a list of every email that you’ve ever received from the sender.

To remove them, check the Select box and click Delete. If there are a lot of emails, and you want to delete them all, make sure to click Select all conversations that match this search.

Filter emails by sender

There are a few tricks to make the search more efficient. For example, you can combine two search operators. Let’s say you need to check every unread email. In this case, you’d click the Search field and type from: sender label: unread.

You can even use a label created by you to sort out your emails. The process is even more efficient if Gmail automatically labels your emails.

3. Delete All Emails Using a Filter

If you need more criteria to select which email you want to delete, you should use a filter. This way, you can quickly identify emails by subject, specific words, or if they have or don’t have attachments.

  1. Select one of the emails that you want to delete.
  2. Click the three-dot icon at the top of the page and select Filter messages like these.

If you want to make your life easier, you should set up a permanent filter. To do so, go through the above instructions, and at step 4, select Create filter. Then, in the next window, select what Gmail should do once you receive an email from the selected sender.

You can archive them, mark them as read, or apply a label, among other options. If you want to keep an eye on them while managing them easily, we recommend applying one of your existing labels. There’s also the option of setting a new label to manage your inbox easier.

If you can’t sort out your inbox even after setting multiple filters, you can always start fresh and delete all emails in Gmail.
