Samsung has bet heavily on foldable devices this year with the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3, and it looks like its gamble has paid off. The Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3 are only available for pre-order, yet they seem to be on their way to becoming a massive success for the company.
Samsung has issued a statement revealing that it has received record pre-orders for the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3, surpassing its previous foldable devices.
The Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3 Have Outsold Previous Galaxy Z Devices
In fact, the consumer interest in Samsung's latest foldable devices is so much that the pre-order figures of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3 combined are higher than the sales of the entire Galaxy Z series in 2021 so far.

“We are thankful for the great customer response to our new Galaxy Z Fold3 and Galaxy Z Flip3. Interest in foldable smartphones is at an all-time high, with pre-order volume for Z Fold3 and Z Flip3 already outpacing total sales for Galaxy Z devices to date in 2021. We’re committed to providing the most innovative experiences to our consumers.”
Another report from The Korea Herald claims that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3 have received twice the pre-orders than the Galaxy S21 series and 1.5x more than the Galaxy Note 20 from last year. The pre-order numbers are also 8-9x times higher than what the Galaxy Z Fold 2 managed to sell during its pre-order period last year.
The Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 are notable upgrades over Samsung's previous foldable devices in every way. The company has made major reliability improvements to ensure its latest foldable devices can easily survive the dents and dings incurred during daily use. They are also the world's first water-resistant foldable devices.
In particular, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 improves upon the Galaxy Z Fold 2 in many key aspects. Additionally, the Z Fold 3 and Flip 3 are cheaper than their predecessor by a fair margin, making them more accessible to consumers. Samsung is also offering attractive trade-in offers and pre-order bonuses to sweeten the deal further.
Foldable Phones Have Arrived
The strong consumer interest in the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3 could very well mark the beginning of foldable phones going mainstream.
Samsung seems to have nailed the basics of foldable devices in its third attempt. Coupled with the lower price tag, it is not surprising that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3 have already outsold previous Galaxy Z devices from Samsung.
