I have a lot of films and videos on my laptop and I would like to view them on my iPad 2 either through streaming them or converting them but seen as I am a student I can't afford expensive packages so something free and quick will do the job.

Hey Anthony! There is an app for iPad called Air Video. Air Video allows you (after setting up Air Video Streamer on a Mac or Windows computer) to connect to 'share' ANY folder on your computer to your iPad (including Time Capsules etc.) You can then access the app on your iPad and start playing any video file in the folders you shared. The beauty of Air Video is that the video can be in almost any format! You can stream mp4, avi etc straight to your iPad without any prior conversion! This app is brilliant and I use it all the time. It will cost a few dollars to get the iPad app but it is DEFINITELY worth it! Check it out! Let me know if you have any further questions... There is a free version to try if you are not sure ;)www.inmethod.com

File Browserhttp://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2010/10/how-to-stream-video-to-ipad-from-network-drive-without-a-computer/To setup the app all you need to do is provide the app with your Time Capsule or Airport name and FileBrowser will work with any file that iOS can recognise.https://www.anrdoezrs.net/links/7251228/type/dlg/sid/UUmuoUeUpU82749/http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/filebrowser-access-files-on/id364738545?mt=8&ign-mpt=uo%3D4
