I have a 1TB external hard drive that operates on Linux whereas my laptop operates on Windows 7. I cannot access the files from my laptop without a Linux reader and I find it rather cumbersome to use. Is there a way to format the external drive to also operate on Windows 7 ?

Hello, you could convert the external to FAT32.  If you converted to FAT32 it will be compatible to be read by both operating systems.  You can use the disk utilities in linux to format your drive to FAT32.You can do this in windows seven by using the disk management utility.  If that gives you trouble you can use the following:http://www.pendriveapps.com/format-fat32-larger-than-32gb/
