Why not try SUPER© converter, I hear it's pretty awesome, and you know what, it's 100% free, at least for now.Super Video ConverterSuper fits the bill for a simple, no-frills interface that converts videos on the go. Super is actually a shell for different command line conversion scripts. Super handles a large number of video formats like 3GP and 3G2 for mobile phones, ASF, DIVX AVI, MOV, MPEG, flash video, real media, PSP video, and more. Super also handles audio conversion for those who want to extract their videos and rip the audio out for easy listening. Super handles large files quickly, and you can find the settings easily making it convenient for users to set their options and start converting.# SUPER © IS UNIVERSAL as it supports a wide variety of input/source file format to play or encode (to & from) without any additional third party software.# SUPER © supports the following formats as input source file:- Input Image Sequence: bmp, jpg, pgm, png, ppm (with sequentially numbered-ONLY filenames) having the same filename numbered-ONLY format. Example: 0001.jpg --up to--> 0999.jpg, note that this format will NOT work name_0001.jpg --up to--> name_0999.jpg (take out name_)- Input Video format: 3gp/3g2, amv, asf,

You could check the MUO Best Of Windows Software page. There's a couple things in the Video section that will do what you're wanting.http://www.makeuseof.com/pages/best-windows-software#videoHandbrake and Freemake Video Converter are both very excellent programs for this. Freemake is a considerably more user-friendly and offers converting to more formats though. Handbrake focuses on converting files to MP4 formats.

I've used Pazera Free FLV to AVI Converter before. It's lightweight, free, and in my experience problem-free. It can output to either .AVI or .MPG. Here is a download link if you want to check it out:http://download.cnet.com/Pazera-Free-FLV-to-AVI-Converter/3000-2194_4-10786669.html
