During Java installation (Java SE Runtime Environment Version 7 Update 7), I get the following error:

"Unable to download http://javadl-esd.sun.com/update/1.7.0/1.7.0_07-b10.xml for installation."

Can anyone rectify this problem?

If you don't need it then don't install it, ie if a site or program asks for Java and tells you to install it then thats fine but untill then don't bother.

What I suggest is that you perform a clean uninstall of java, and than download the lasted version from it's website, and reinstall it!

Instead of using the web installer, go to java.com, click on Downloads, then click on See all Java downloads. From there select the appropriate offline installer (32-bit or 64-bit) for your system. Save it to your hard drive and install it from there.
