Recently my Mac OSX Snow Leopard crashed but I was able do a reinstall from the original factory restore disc. I assume the trouble was caused by a Mozilla Thunderbird/Firefox drop-down demand for a "Crash Report". The crash seemed to cause the Mac to lock up and could be shut down only with the infamous 8-second long press.
- Since Day One I had used an external drive to save about 22,000 photos but I cannot access them although I took care to disconnect that drive from the Mac before the re-install.
- I also lost handshaking of Bluetooth between Mac and Samsung Android tablet.
Your kind advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

Thank you both. I was able to Bluetooth from the Mac to the Android tablet but not vice versa. That proved that something was amiss in the setting.I fixed that today. And yes, I re-installed the Snow Leopard OS and then went for any updates.

Have you checked for and installed any updates after restoring the Mac? http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201541 For Bluetooth, you can try installing/reinstalling Bluetooth Software 1.5 from here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1209Try updating and installing the software above and let us know if it helps.

It's looking for a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse because it can't find the built-in keyboard and mouse. If you have a USB keyboard and mouse, you should be able to use those as a work-around for the time being. However, you'll probably need to reinstall Lion on that system for the OS to see your built-in stuff properly.
