Just because the Fitbit Inspire 2 is designed to be strapped to your wrist all day (and night), doesn't mean that you'll never take it off. That's why the popular wearable company is partnering with Tile, the makers of a tracking device that helps you locate misplaced items.

Never Misplace Your Fitbit Again

In a post on the Fitbit Blog, Fitbit announced that it's collaborating with Tile on the Inspire 2. You might already know Tile as the brand of small, square-shaped devices that can be inserted in your wallet, hooked to your keyring, or placed inside your suitcase. But now, it's making its entry into a completely different market: fitness trackers.

Tile's technology will be integrated with the Fitbit Inspire 2, which will enable you to use the Tile app to locate your misplaced wristband. Fortunately, this doesn't mean that you'll have to invest in any new hardware or upgrade your device if you already have an Inspire 2—Tile's integration will arrive in the form of a free update that has already been launched.

Once you download the update and install the Tile app on your smartphone, you'll be able to take full advantage of Tile's handy tracking feature to help you find your missing wearable. If you misplaced your Inspire 2 at home, you can use the Tile app to make your device vibrate, allowing you to use auditory cues to find its location.

But perhaps you lost your Inspire 2 at the gym or a park, and it's out of range. In that case, you'll be able to use the Tile global network to locate it. Your device will be detected by other Tile users in that area, letting you pinpoint its location. Conversely, if you happen to lose your phone but are wearing your Fitbit, you'll be able to use the Inspire 2 to make your phone ring.

Inspire 2 users can also benefit from Tile's Premium subscription plan if they're willing to pay $2.99/month or $29.99/year. The paid plan comes with some additional features, like Smart Alerts, which will ensure that you don't leave the house without your Inspire 2.

Will Other Fitbit Devices Support Tile?

This Tile integration will definitely be a welcome freebie to existing Fitbit Inspire 2 owners, as well as anyone who plans on purchasing the fitness tracker. If the Tile integration goes well, perhaps we'll see Tile on future Fitbit releases. The Inspire 2 is currently priced at $99.95 on Fitbit's website, and you'll be able to activate Tile as soon as you take it out of the box.
