As a rule of thumb From Core 2 Duo up ...all processors support 64 Bit OS....

Hello, the best advice would be to download and run the Windows 7 Upgrade advisor. I would say changes are it could run ok as long as your computer has a fairly recent graphics card. Most of the upgrades to windows 7 fail because of graphic cards compatibility with windows 7.

The easiest method probably is to run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisorhttp://www.makeuseof.com/tag/windows-7-upgrade-advisor-check-pc-compatibility/

The best way is probably to take a look at the Windows 7 system requirements from Microsoft: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/products/system-requirements.Most modern computers will support it. It ran very well on my computer with a first-generation Core 2 Duo processor, before I upgraded to a newer processor. I would be hesitant if you have something a little older, such as a Pentium 4 machine. It may run, but I don't think you'd be happy with the performance. If your machine has an AMD setup, anything from the early Athlon X2 dual core processors should be adequate.
