Microsoft OneDrive is baked into Windows 10 and it can be a drag on your system resources. Fortunately, it's easy to disable or remove. Here are several methods for removing OneDrive from your computer.

While OneDrive is a fine cloud storage solution, you might want to remove it if you already use Dropbox, Google Drive, or another provider. After Microsoft cut the free storage down to 5 GB, you'd be forgiven for moving to Google Drive's generous 15 GB.

As the push towards web apps has evolved, we're now met with two powerful cloud solutions -- SkyDrive and Google Drive. These two options offer all the tools needed for file synchronization and office productivity. However, while both of them can be great, only one of them can be the best solution for office productivity. In order to objectively evaluate which solution is more ideal, we will take a close look at both. Who shall be the winner?

I’m coming to the end of my trial period with Microsoft Office 2013. Over the weeks it has been a reasonably solid experience with one or two quirks causing me no end of frustration. But do I want to upgrade? Do I want to pay for a subscription or full purchase or would I prefer to stick with Microsoft Office 2010, a suite that I've been using successfully for several years now? Indeed, should I even think of abandoning Microsoft in favour of an open source alternative?

But cloud storage is more than these important but mundane uses. As users across the world prove, cloud storage gives us so many creative uses to try out. What’s also attractive is cloud services like Dropbox, SkyDrive, Google Drive, Sugar Sync etc. come with free options.

One of the improvements delivered with Windows Phone 8 is enhanced support for SkyDrive, Microsoft’s cloud storage system that enables users to upload and sync photos, music, video and more between different devices. Up against competition from cloud storage services such as Box, Dropbox and Google Drive (although of these, only Box has an official app), how does SkyDrive stand up?

As much as technology can be helpful, it can also cause problems or even fail at the worst possible times. With Word 2013, however, things are slightly different.

Only last week I wrote an article about cloud-based PowerPoint alternatives, the week before an article about DOS games in the cloud and before that you might have caught me harping on about online backup solutions. There’s good reason for the buzz - it’s both handy and a growing necessity.

Improvements will always be needed and made; however compared to what these past products were, they’ve improved tremendously.

Dropbox used to be the only serious game in town, with SugarSync and friends trying to compete but not really succeeding. And then Google Drive came along with Google’s immense resources and technical know-how, and not to be outdone, Microsoft quickly upgraded its existing SkyDrive service.

When it comes to creating a digital "file cabinet" where you can store away every form of information you discover during your research, this is it.

There are two big problems with doing that much research. The first is that you tend to accumulate a lot of information of various forms. The second problem is that unless you have a smart way to organize all of that information - which can take the form of pictures, web links, text and more - you're apt to lose track of where you put things.

Cloud storage services are great in that they offer a nice chunk of free storage that anyone should be able to put to use. With the cloud's rising popularity and on-the-go computing as popular as ever in 2012, it's time for you to get on the ball. But what exactly should you be using Dropbox, Google Drive, or another alternative for? Let me help you figure that.

Personally, I've not given it a hard look yet because, well, Dropbox works! I have a paid Dropbox account and it's perfect for me. Maybe after a few months of being played with, I'll feel like Drive is worth jumping into.

One of the key aspects in which Windows 8 differs from previous releases is its provision of access to cloud storage, particularly SkyDrive. While earlier versions of Windows require you to access SkyDrive via your browser or Windows Live Mesh, in Windows 8 you can browse it as readily as you would any local drive.
