However, along came Firefox and then Google Chrome which toppled IE from its perch. Internet Explorer struggled to compete with those browsers, and Microsoft eventually removed IE from Windows 11 and stopped supporting it altogether in 2022.</p>

We&#39;ve come a long way from the initial days, where Apple&#39;s Safari and Microsoft&#39;s Internet Explorer were slow and insecure internet browsers. People now prefer to use Safari and Microsoft Edge over third-party browsers, largely down to the fact that they&#39;re installed by default and are provided by the manufacturer itself.</p>

While some people like to have every option and control on-screen at all times, others might prefer to hide certain elements outright. With a bit of time, you can get all your apps and even <a href="https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/complete-guide-windows-customization/">the operating system (OS) itself set up just the way you like</a>.</p>

Modern browsers usually come with a plethora of add-ons and extensions to boost the base functionality of the browser; modern users have equally come to expect their experience to be customizable. That functionality <a href="https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/everything-need-know-microsoft-edge-browser-extensions/">has until recently eluded Microsoft Edge</a>, which has certainly been a deterrent to <a href="https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/10-reasons-using-microsoft-edge-now/">any users considering implementing</a> the new browser on their system.</p>

I’m not going to expand on this debate now, as my colleagues at MakeUseOf <a href="https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/publishers-need-stop-whining-adblock/">have already done so</a>, far more eloquently than I, and their arguments are right on the money. So rather than lecture you further, I thought we’d explore the options for those people wishing to use Adblock with Internet Explorer and see if there are any additional considerations to make if you’re in the IE camp.</p>

So I delete the whole lot, user profiles, extensions, and all, and start again - after backing up my bookmarks of course. It would be a disaster if I lost the bookmarks.</p>

Whether you like IE or not, you can't deny that it has improved dramatically and is now worthy of taking its place alongside other modern browsers -- especially with the new Internet Explorer 11. Internet Explorer 11 is part of Windows 8.1, which is currently available as a Preview release and will launch officially later this year. Windows 7 users will eventually be able to upgrade to Internet Explorer 11, too.

Many fundamental human needs can - at least partially - be met on online social networks. <a title="MakeUseOf" href="https://www.makeuseof.com/tags/facebook/">Facebook</a> in particular has experienced massive success by tapping into the human needs to participate, understand, create, identify, and relax. We use this social network to communicate and connect, update friends on what is going on in our lives, express how we feel, and share things we like. Facebook has become so important that many of us cannot imagine living without it.</p>

While you can’t use Microsoft’s Internet Explorer 9 without upgrading to a newer version of Windows, there are a variety of modern browsers that still support Windows XP. Let’s be honest – IE 8 isn’t much better than Internet Explorer 6. Even Internet Explorer 9 offers much better support for HTML5 and other modern technologies.

When Microsoft unveiled Windows 8, one of the most interesting things about it was the new iteration of Internet Explorer. If viewed via the Start screen, the slimmed-down browser offers maximum space for viewing web pages thanks to the position of buttons and the address bar striped across the bottom of the screen (where people don’t usually read). It’s a fascinating new approach, but Internet Explorer 10 is apparently low on features and options.

There have been many products that it has launched that have only left me disappointed and frustrated. However, in the recent years, it seems Microsoft has gotten their act together with many of their products. Improvements will always be needed and made; however compared to what these past products were, they’ve improved tremendously.

Alternative browsers are not uncommon, but it’s rare to find one that is supported over a long period of time. Such is the case with Avant browser, an option that’s simultaneously under-the-radar and quite popular. But is it really a good alternative to mainstream options, such as Internet Explorer, which the browser is based on? Let’s take a closer look.

Internet Explorer and Firefox both do not have a method to print out a user's browsing history.</p>
