How likely is Facebook to officially release its recently tested feature of 'find friends nearby'? Please note, question is about likelihood.

I agree that it is a nice feature for friendly-natured persons. It would definately be nice to discover friends in a neighbourhood or at class or in a meeting and maybe also of similar interests

No one can tell what is going inside mind of Mark Zukerburg. May be not at all because of privacy concerns.

Facebook wasn't actually looking to develop the feature seriously as it was the result of a Hackathon contest which are coding contests held once in while within companies. Wired.com had a pretty comprehensive article on it - http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2012/06/facebook-quietly-releases-find-friends-nearby-then-quietly-pulls-it/

Nice and Sincere answerBut was it coding contest or extension of Glancee? As per the same link , wouldn't fb introduce because Glancee is now it's own app?Regarding privacy or stalking , that even fb places met with similar responses. But that depends on how a user uses a feature. It can be activated if a user likes to ( by going to menu ) and also if audience limitation privacy is added with additional feature of similar interests, it would be useful app

Facebook usually adds features quietly to their social networking site. There are usually no major official announcements made. So just enjoy the app http://apps.facebook.com/nearbyfriends/

Latest update is that FaceBook has withdrawn the feature due to stalking fears.

It was a testing as mentioned in Basu's link. So no question of feature withdraw.Regarding privacy or stalking , that even fb places met with similar responses. But that depends on how a user uses a feature.
