Well, I would say yes.tv ads are great for marketing because you have an a number of viewrs..the same way...most of the web world is spending hours on facebook. So it will let you reach to people.here is a comparison by The Wall Street Journal for an Indian brand:http://blogs.wsj.com/india-chief-mentor/2010/07/12/the-cost-of-facebook-marketing/and the thing I noticed is:normally when one person views your or interacts on your ad..only one person will know about the ad.but when that ad is on facebook...when one person interacts on your ad100-1000 frnds of that person will see your page and your ad on their feeds..eg. Jay likes xyz page (some fo their frnds may visit your page !)or Jay liked or commented on xyz's photo. (great! your product photo reached to hundreds of other ppl)your ad will be shared by that useronly facebook provides this i guess.

I don't use FB myself but I know a lot of companies that do use it for all types projects and products. From a technical point I do see it as beneficial at any given time:1. People interested will "friend" or "like" you which will help to further spread your name2. People interested are directly connected to you and (of course depending on their FB settings) get updates from your business almost instantly3. unlike (e-mail) newsletters you don't have to be worried about anti-spam mechanics which may filter out your emails4. you can save costs on traditional marketing (of course you shouldn't stop them completely) since FB is free and you probably already have an internet connectionAlso with people sharing things they like and all the social media linking I think you can reach a broader and larger audience than with traditional marketing. The most important part for your business however is to be aware of the work that is associated with social media marketing. This is nothing some assistant or half-time employee can do besides their usual duties. Usually it takes a team from 1-3 employees for successful social media marketing.
