Just upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7. There is no Outlook Express. What is the best alternative? My ISP is bigpond. Presently using bigpond webmail.

Google Chrome is a web browser. The asker is looking for a mail program like thunderbird and outlook.

I personally use Opera Mail (which is embedded in the Opera browser). Other than that Thunderbird or Windows Live mail are the usual suspects. It may also depend on what mail service you are using.

If you would prefer to stay with Outlook, try Windows Live Mail as a free Windows 7 replacement of Outlook Express.
