Question from a non-techie and requiring non-techie answer - sorry!

I'm looking for a simple way to avoid losing my WordPress free blog hosted at WordPress if there's a problem with it. Can't I just click 'export' in the 'tools' menu and use that file to import to another WordPress blog if there's a problem, or have I missed something important here?

I've used Wordpress extensively, and the best plug-in I've found bar none that allows you to do automatic backups and will do a restore easier than the rest is WP-DBManager. Simply do an Add New Plugin search for it and install it. This plugin also allows you to optimize your database on a scheduled basis, plus you can repair it if need be. I do however recommend that you place a 3 database limit on how many backups it stores so that you don't exceed the space limits where you are.
