What software is best suited for a rookie like me to create animated GIFs? And can you please provide a link to download that program?
Thank you! =)

Photoshop CS5 and GIMP are great, but you need to reach somewhat higher learning curve just to produce an animated GIF.Simply use a free award-winning program "VirtualDub". Open a AVI video file in it, then go to File ~> Export ~> Animated GIF. That's done.. You can also trim the video as per your need.http://www.virtualdub.org

the above ones are great.... you can also try out video-gif. It is great if you simply want to take a video-clip and make a gif straight from that. (it costs $17)

Photoshop CS5 actually makes animations and gifs incredibly easy as I found out recently, and I'm no photoshop expert by far. I only mention it as you might have it already installed and be unaware of it's capabilities.
