Gamers; get ready. E3 2021 is in the diary and it is well and truly game on, as some of the biggest names in gaming come together to showcase their forthcoming wares. However, there are several major names missing from the list of confirmed attendees...

E3 2021 To Take Place Virtually

E3, the major video game industry event, will take place on a virtual level this year, following all other expos since COVID hit. An Entertainment Software Association (ESA) press release, says:

It’s "Game On." for E3, as The Entertainment Software Association (ESA) officially unveils plans for a reimagined, all-virtual E3 2021 that will engage video game fans everywhere... E3 2021 will take place June 12 through June 15.

The event will take place online and is completely free, while also being open to everybody. If you want to find out what plans your favorite hardware or software developer has in store, then attending is a must.

What Brands Will Be At E3 2021?

We have some pretty big names already confirming their attendance at the video game expo. According to the press release, we will have:

... early commitments from Nintendo, Xbox, Capcom, Konami, Ubisoft, Take-Two Interactive, Warner Bros. Games and Koch Media, and more to come.

You'll notice there are one or two major names missing from that list. No Sony with its latest PlayStation 5 developments. No Activision Blizzard with Black Ops updates. No Square Enix with an amazing RPG title to throw around.

However, this does make us wonder what Nintendo has planned for E3 2021. Well, not really. It's going to be the Switch Pro, so Nintendo will probably confirm what to expect from the upgraded console.

There will be plenty of gaming goodness to be had, seeing as Capcom and Konami are already down to attend. Especially as the organizers have more to reveal soon.

Who Can Attend E3 2021?

The press release says:

Developers will be showcasing their latest news and games directly to fans around the world. The ESA will be working with media partners globally to help amplify and make this content available to everyone for free.

So, that means anyone can go. For people who wouldn't normally be able to attend, for a wide variety of reasons, this will come as a real boon. Now everyone can find out the news about their favorite console or game series.

Will You Be Attending E3 2021?

Let's face it, any gamer out there would be crazy not to attend. You'll be able to get the most up-to-date information from the brands in attendance. Plus, we're promised surprise reveals, so maybe Sony will pop up (it won't, don't get your hopes up, Sony pulled out last year).

It is exciting to speculate on who or what we'll see at the event, especially with Nintendo's new console on the horizon, among myriad other intriguing devices and gaming content.
