I recently got the MacX iPhone DVD Ripper for free through a promotion.

I see that there are a number of software makers/options for "DVD to iPhone" conversion, i.e. Aimersoft, Xilisoft, iSkysoft etc. Do any of these stand out?

What is the best Mac software to use to get high-quality video on my iPhone 4 out of my DVDs? I've found it hard to get any honest comparisons, so any feedback is much appreciated.

As far as I know, Xilisoft, iskysoft are both good. But I know a program named Any DVD Cloner Platinum. It's also outstanding. Try it.http://www.tune4mac.com/mac-dvd-cloner-platinum/

What's wrong with the MacX iPhone DVD Ripper? According to the software publisher 's website, the version you have basically does the work of two applications (DVD Ripper and Video Converter). You can read about the good and bad of these two applications on MakeUseOf [Broken Link Removed]. The article concludes that "DVD Ripper handles copy-protected DVDs better than Handbrake" and can set start and end points in the DVD (e.g. if you want to skip commercials), so it seems like it's a good app to keep.

Hih.264 is THEORETICLY going to give you higher quality but requires more processing power to encode. Therefore your computer will take longer with it.WOndershare DVD to iPhone on Mac [Broken Link Removed]for handbraketutorial http://anders.com/guides/convert/video/iPod/mac.htmlhttp://www.clone2go.com/tutorials/how-to-rip-dvd-to-iphone-format-with-handbrake.phpFile Format: MP4Codec: AVC/H.264 Video/ AAC AudioFramerate: Same as SourceEncoder: x264 (h.264 Main)Quality: Average Bitrate 1000 kbps2 Pass Encoding: CheckedPicture Settings Output: 480 x (Keep Aspect Ratio) Settings That ChangedVideo (VBR)Average Bitrate (kbps)Audio (ABR)Bitrate (kbps)--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Test 1 (1000kbps VBR and 128kbps ABR) is the way to go. Both Xilisoft and iSkysoft offer decent products but I prefer HandBrake over all others. Using presets the only thing you need to do is select the audio and subtitle tracks you want or you can go all-in with settings like 2-pass encoding, average bitrate etc.http://handbrake.fr/
