My friend had recently purchased Android phone - Samsung Galaxy Ace - 2.3.4 Gingerbread pre-installed. My friend doesn't have any data plan on his phone, but has a good PC with decent broadband.
I had recently seen a similar question on MakeUseOf Answers, but didn't find the sites to get the .apk files.
I had also tried the method described in the forum thread here, as suggested in a previous MakeUseOf Answers solution by ha14:

I have already tried the method described by the following article you mentioned - Using Android Without a Data Plan - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=7313464I can't follow all the instructions mentioned in the article as the .android file is not found even enabling show hidden files and folders.
