I get no sound out of my speakers if my DVD disks contain spoken dialog . They are totally silent! But a music DVD will playback fine. Video images from a DVD are fine, but if someone is talking no sound comes out of the speakers. YouTube plays both spoken dialog and music fine. Any ideas here? Thanks!

Have you updated your codec's? It used to be a common problem that the sound file extentions were not readable without a codec update.

Well, for some miraculous reason everything is working properly this morning. Last night I could get no dialogue. This morning I am now hearing dialogue. Since I didn't make any changes between last night and this morning I don't know what happened. But I'm not complaining. Thanks Bruce, Hovsep and Alan for your inputs! Hopefully this problem won't reappear.

Follow Bruce E suggestion, also maybe your speaker audio is is set to play 5.1 surround and you have to change to stereo!

Check the default Language Settings in your media player software. If you are using Windows Media Player, go to File - Tools - Options. Click on the DVD tab, then the Default... button in the Language Settings section. Make sure the audio option is set to Title Default and try your DVD again. There should be similar settings in other video player software as well.

I followed your instructions and everything checks out as you outlined. Still no sound, but thanks for responding.
