Former President Donald Trump's blog has shut down for good. The short-lived blog was a place for Trump to share his thoughts about current events and rally his supporters, but now, Trump has decided to step away from the keyboard.

Trump's Blog Vanishes From the Web

Trump's blog, From the Desk of Donald J. Trump, was officially unveiled on May 4, 2021. Not even one month later, Trump has seemingly given up on his blog.

If you attempt to visit From the Desk of Donald J. Trump with its original URL, you'll be redirected to the "Alerts" page on Trump's website. A report by CNBC confirmed that Trump's blog is, in fact, gone for good.

Trump's senior aide, Jason Miller, told CNBC that Trump's blog "will not be returning," and that it served as an "auxiliary to the broader efforts we have and are working on."

Trump initially started the blog to fight back against his bans from social platforms. Following the Capitol riots on January 6, 2021, Trump was banned from Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. Facebook's Oversight Board also upheld the platform's decision to ban Trump, which means he won't be returning to Facebook anytime soon.

Is This a Sign of More to Come?

Trump has promised to launch his own social platform, which would likely operate similarly to other free speech networks like Parler and Gab.

In March 2021, Miller told Fox News that Trump's social platform would launch in "two to three months." As this window of time is coming to a close, is it really a coincidence that Trump's blog just so happened to shut down now?

It doesn't seem to be a coincidence, as proven by a Tweet from Miller. Political commentator, Amy Tarkanian, turned to Twitter to question the motive behind the closure of Trump's blog. "Perhaps this is a precursor to him joining another social media platform?" Tarkanian wrote.

Miller replied to Tarkanian's Tweet, confirming her suspicions: "Yes, actually, it is. Stay tuned!"

It's unclear whether Trump will be returning on his own social platform, or to an existing one, but it's definitely clear that Trump will be trying to make a comeback.

Trump's Social Platform Seems More Likely Than Ever

The demise of Trump's blog may bring about the birth of his social platform. Although it's possible for him to make a return to one of the few social platforms that he isn't banned on, it still seems unlikely for him to do so. Trump will likely want to make a statement when he returns to the social sphere, and coming back on his own social platform will do just that.
