Does Windows 8 occupy lesser internal memory than it's Windows 7?
Is that reason why it boots quick?

On my two system, in effect, the total memory occupied by windows 8 is lower than windows 7. I tried this on the 64 bit version of both systems

no thats not the reason it boots quicker because it is made that wayand the size is less because maybe it doesnt have certain features like media centre .it will increase the size after increasing dot net framework and other updates in future maybe

it occupies a less of memory since it is more optimized, but that's not the reason why it boot faster, as everybody stated...

Have a look at the link below illustrating the comparison between memory consumption between Windows 7 and 8 -http://www.askvg.com/comparison-between-windows-7-and-windows-8-memory-management-system/

Yes, it should. As Windows 8 was made for portable devices with small amounts of memory.

Also interested in this question, and your Alex response to me seems the most understandable

Do this argument really hold good? The Windows 8RT for the ARM architecture is a different kernel than the one meant for the Intel based devices including the MS Surface Pro and as far as the rumour goes the Surface Pro will have specs to match a ultrabook. The version of Windows 8 being refered here is the one for the Intel architecture so I personally do not think the portable devices argument hold good. However, still doesn't mean than Windows 8 doesn't consume less resources than Windows 7.

Its because of the Hybrid Boot/Shutdown.You can read more about it here: http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/6320-fast-startup-turn-off-windows-8-a.html

This is the right answer. Thanks. Without hybrid boot Windows 8 doesn't boot faster.
2012-11-28 07:38:06
No, it start fast because of integration of UEFI.
