I have my XP machine configured to open files and folders with a single click.

Recently, something (probably an update) changed my configurations and suddenly, every time I tried to open a folder or drive, that stupid search companion opened instead. I would then have to close search companion, right click the folder (or drive) and click "open" in a drop-down menu. Needless to say, it defeated the entire purpose of configuring my machine to use single click.

My question was "How can I disable search companion?"

An update to the above that should be of help to anyone who has a similar problem in the future. I finally found the solution four days after this problem surfaced and a number of hours after contacting Aibek about it.The fix for this problem is in Microsoft's Support document Q321186, located at this link:http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=321186Thank you, Aibek, for getting back to me and suggesting I post my question here.
