Now that we're in a new year, you may well have picked up a resolution to get fitter. Or, perhaps, you were already a regular exerciser hoping to improve your performance.

As part of the virtual CES 2021 event, Digitsole, a French tech company, showed off its connected Walk Active Smart Insoles, which track your exercise and offer recommendations.

What Are the Digitsole Walk Active Smart Insoles?

The Digitsole Walk Active Smart Insoles can be added to an existing set of shoes. This already sets the units apart from many other smart shoes, which require you to buy an entirely new pair of sneakers. It also means you aren't limited to which shoes get smart features since you can quickly transfer the insoles between footwear.

The insoles can be cut to size as well. This doesn't affect the tracking ability as the technology, 40-day battery, and sensors are all located towards the insole's center.

The most significant feature is the exercise and step tracking. Rather than placing a fitness tracker on your wrist, simply slip the insoles into your chosen shoes, and continue about your day.

The recorded data syncs via Bluetooth to your smartphone, and you can view it within the companion Android or iOS app. The app allows you to monitor the data in real-time, analyze trends, and made adjustments based on Digitsole's recommendations.

The fitness tracking features would make these smart insoles a worthwhile investment, but the company has also integrated other functions. Sensors integrated within the insole measure how you move and analyze your pronation (your foot's movement as you walk or run). This is based on more than 10 parameters, such as contact time with the ground, cadence, and stability.

Alongside this, the Digitsole Walk Active Smart Insoles use the recorded data to offer health-based recommendations. For instance, if you are at risk of developing an injury, enter a state of fatigue, or have a musculoskeletal injury, you'll get an alert within the smartphone app. You can present this data to your doctor or healthcare provider for further investigation.

Where Can You Buy the Digitsole Smart Insoles?

If the Digitsole Walk Active Smart Insoles' smart capabilities interest you, you can pick up a set from the Digitsole website for $120.

Those of you after some warmth during the winter months, might also consider investing in a set of Digitsole Warm Series heated smart insoles.
