Every visual artist has their own unique creative process, but it's common—especially in today's digital age—that the last step in that process be sharing your finished piece online.

Gone are the days where you have to find museums that'll take your paintings or photographs for people to see them. Instead, pick a platform that appeals to you most and post away!

Founded in 2000, DeviantArt is one of the oldest art communities on the internet. DeviantArt launched its mobile app in 2017, and its newest update is small but significant.

DeviantArt for Mobile Improves Its Navigation

DeviantArt has improved the user interface of its mobile app, adding a sidebar very similar to the one on the DeviantArt website. The sidebar gives you quick access to the homepage, deviants (artists) you follow, and groups.

Access to the last item on that list is particularly notable because prior to this update, DeviantArt groups were only available on the website. DeviantArt groups function similarly to Facebook groups—collections of users that have banded together on the platform with common interests or goals.

On the sidebar, you can tap My Groups to view all the groups you are a part of, or Recommended Groups to view groups that DeviantArt believes would be a good fit for you. You can also pin your favorite groups to the top of your sidebar for easier access.

If you run your own group, it might show up in the recommended section for other deviants that may be interested in joining. If you’re not interested in a group, you can tap the three dots to the right of its name to remove the recommendation.

When you visit a group in the app, you’ll see both its deviations (submissions) and posts. Group administrators are able to publish updates to their group from the posts feed.

Where Do You Share Your Creations Online?

If you're an artist, designer, or photographer that's been on the internet for a long time, chances are that you've been on DeviantArt at some point. The community doesn't seem to be quite as lively as it was in the early 2000s, but the volume of submitted works has exploded in recent years.

With such an active user base, it should become of utmost importance for DeviantArt to improve its mobile app. At the time of writing, the app is rated 2.6/5.0 on the App Store and 3.2/5.0 on Google Play.
