Music artists give us classics every few years through mind-blowing, sometimes once-in-a-lifetime collaborations, like Still D.R.E. by Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg. This is a musical masterpiece that cannot be repeated.

Maybe you have an ideal musical group in mind that you think would do well. Well, now you have an opportunity to test your theory, as Spotify allows you to create the supergroup you've always wanted to hear.

Spotify has launched Supergrouper, an in-app experience that allows you to create a musical group by bringing together multiple artists. You have 100% creative control over the group, like which artists you want in it, and the group name. So, how does it work?

When you form a supergroup, Spotify creates a playlist with songs from the artists you've brought together. However, the feature is different from Blend, which allows you to create a Spotify playlist with friends.

So, unless the artists you've chosen already have songs together in real life, don't expect to hear them harmonizing on a song in your playlist. But who knows? Maybe the artists in your supergroup could collaborate in real life one day.

How to Form a Supergroup on Spotify

Make sure you have the latest version of the Spotify app installed on your phone to access the Supergrouper feature. Please note that you can only access the Supergrouper in-app experience on your mobile. To form a supergroup, go to spotify.com/supergrouper in your smartphone's browser. You'll need to log in to your Spotify account and agree to connect your account to Supergrouper.

You'll first have to decide how many members you want your group to have. Next, choose your lead singer, lyricist, and The Wildcard. If you like, you can let Spotify surprise you by choosing your group members for you by tapping Randomize. Just ensure you block or unblock artists on the Spotify app beforehand.

Now create your band name. Spotify will give you a list of phrases to consider. Choose at least two from the list, and you're done. Your group is ready. From here, you can either share your group with friends, create another one by tapping Start over or check out your creation by tapping Listen to their playlist.

The playlist works the same way other playlists do on Spotify. You can view song lyrics, favorite songs, and so forth. Spotify even creates a custom cover for your playlist, including the group's name and images of the artists in your group. You can add more songs to your playlist by tapping Add songs on the playlist page.

If you need help fleshing out your playlist, tap the Collaborator icon below the Playlist duration info to invite friends to collaborate with your playlist. Just be sure to tell them they have seven days to accept your request, or the link will expire.

To access more options, tap the three-dot menu next to the Collaborator icon. Here you can make your playlist private, edit it, and more.

Create the Supergroup of Your Dreams

Spotify's Supergrouper feature allows you to create the musical group of your dreams. Have fun with it, invite friends to collaborate, and put your group's soundtrack together. You can even create a different group to collaborate with your social media followers. The possibilities are endless.
