I recently purchased Office for Mac 2011. I have tried and tried multiple times to connect my company's Google Apps mail/calendar/contacts with Outlook 2011 with no success.

I have confirmed that IMAP is enabled in GMail and have looked over the IMAP settings from the GMail help site over and over again and still can't get the darn thing to work. I am able to receive mail but not send. I have tried both ports Google instructs you to use in their documentation and again, no luck.

Has anyone been able make Outlook 2011 work with Google Apps mail? If so, please tell me what you did. Is this issue a Google issue or a Microsoft Issue?

In the "More Options" You need to select "Incoming Server Info" so that it can use your credentials to send through the google SMTP...not that hard.

i was having the same problem...you have to go to "more options" tab, and then click on "authentication" use incoming server at the top.  that's it...then it worked - 465 for the port.good luck

Thanks for all of your comments. I have searched and searched for a solution including using the settings that Mike pointed out, however, MigrationKing is right - for some reason the application treats Google Apps different than straight GMail. Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated!

I got confirmation from two Google Apps users that the settings above work using "yourname@yourdomain.com" as username. You said you do recieve mails but you can't send them so:Have you tried sending Emails through the SMTP server provided by your Internet Service Provider instead of the Google SMTP?

Gmail works fine but not Google Apps which just so happens to directly compete with Microsoft on cloud email hosting. Surprise...surprise...Have you seen this tutorial on Office365 vs Google Apps? http://goo.gl/CbUUC or look at [Broken Link Removed]

From what I read in Google Help there is not too much difference. Only thing that sticks out is to use "yourname@yourdomain.com" as a username. Other then that it should be the same.http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=78799http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=34383

For me Outlook 2011 (Version 14.0.2 101115) acquired all IMAP and SMTP settings automatically after entering my Gmail Adress (xyz@gmail.com) and my password.Maybe try updating your Outlook to the latest version and adding the account again.Username: xyz@gmail.comPassword: ********IMAP: imap.gmail.com : 993 (use SSL)SMTP: smtp.gmail.com : 465 (deactivate standard Port, use SSL, same user:pw as IMAP)If you want to sync your Contacts you'll have to do a triple sync (Outlook Apple Addressbook Gmail)As for the Google Calendar it's not possible at the moment since Microsoft doesn't support CalDAV and Outlook 2011 doesn't sync with iCal.
