I'd like to see which installed software are attempting to auto-update/connecting to the internet/using my Internet connection so I can turn them off. I check and update my software manually and I don't want anything to choke my already slow Internet connection. How to do it?

NetBalancer is the Software to show which software is Auto updating You can download Netbalancer in http://seriousbit.com/netbalancer/ . It has also option for blocking Data usage

What Bruce said, it's a good way!But you can also open task manager (alt+ctrl+delete), and go to processes, and see if there is any that has the word update... (I've found some of them and terminated them, since they made my computer slow...)

I do that everytime. It's tiring to check task manager everytime I connect to the internet, that's why I want to see which ones are the culprit and disable them all. I agree. They bloated the system.Yeah, Bruce's idea is very good.

I see! Also forgot to tell you something else..After checking the processes that use auto update, follow this steps:1. Terminate them. (But be cautious, so you don't terminate an important one. And try to remember it's name..)2. Go to start & type: "msconfig.exe"3. Once opened, go to services, and disable the ones that slow down your connection! (Those you terminated before with task manager)4. Once finished, click ok, and restart!Hope this helps!

Use a firewall and 'deny' any other applications except your browsers and ims.

Click on the Start orb and type 'perfmon /res' and press Enter. Click on the Network tab in the Resource Monitor. The section 'Processes with Network Activity' shows all of the running programs that are currently connected to the Internet or are listening on a network port.

Thanks, but I don't see 'Network' tab. The available options are 'System Monitor' and 'Performance Logs and Alerts'.
