How can I check a paper I want to publish for plagiarism?

Your research paper must be crafted originally, so that it helps establishing yourself as an authentic researcher. It will be better to use a plagiarism checker tool to make sure that you do not have to face the allegation of copying the parts of your write-up from some other resources.

I recommend Turnitin.com. I have consulted for a major university and it is the preferred location for my university. It is a really good way to check you sources.

I would definitely recommend Turn it In (turnitin.com). My school and university used to use it, it is very easy and straight forward to use.

Google a few key phrases and see if it can be found online.

I used http://www.dustball.com/cs/plagiarism.checker.It was quite good and accurate. There were a few instances where it missed, but it never gave me a false positive.

http://www.dustball.com/cs/plagiarism.checker/ checks plagiarism just by copy and pasting your work (hopefully your work) on the box given.

My former university uses the EVE2 plagiarism detection system. They actually paid a fortune to use it, but it's available for $30 as a one-time fee.The department chair claimed he ran a great number of papers through every year and always caught a large number of people. I can't speak for the accuracy of it, but supposedly it works.

Is plagiarism plagiarism without the intent to plagiarize? That's a serious question. :)

If you are able to pay for that, then a good way is to use www.grammarly.com, which is very useful for correcting grammatical errors & checking originality.

You could use WriteCheck.com to check for possible plagiarism. It isn't free and the site does not really state much about how much it does cost for credits to use the service but it uses the same databases as the checkers for educational institutions (and appears be be run by the same company).

You could try to google some parts of the paper.
