Microsoft is working on the Windows 11 version 22H2 launch, and the update comes with plenty of new features to improve the operating system. Microsoft announced the 22H2 update is designed to improve the system’s productivity, security, and overall ease of use.

When Will Windows 11 22H2 Become Available?

The update is expected to launch in September 2022. However, Microsoft will release the update gradually, prioritizing the 22H2 version for computers with a good update experience. This way, the company is ensuring a smooth experience with the roll-out.

After a few weeks, the update will become available to more computers and should become available to all Windows 11 users in the first months of 2023. Updating your system to 22H2 is up to you, so you can wait a bit more until Microsoft solves any bugs or glitches.

You can check Microsoft’s website for any known issues affecting the update’s functionality.

The update is already available in the Release Preview Channel of the Windows Insider Program. However, you can test the latest Windows 11 features without joining the Insider Program.

How to Check if Your Computer Can Run Windows 11 22H2

To check if your computer is compatible with Windows 11 22H2, you’ll have to use Windows Registry. Here’s how you can do it:

  1. Press Windows key + R to bring up a Run dialog.
  2. Type regedit and press Enter.
  3. In the Registry Editor window, head to Computer > HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Microsoft > Windows NT > CurrentVersion > AppCompatFlags > TargetVersionUpgradeExperienceIndicators > NI22H2.
  4. In the right pane, locate and open the RedReason key.
  5. Check the value. If the displayed value is NONE, your device can run Windows 11 22H2. For any other value, you can’t update to the 22H2 version.
Check registry for 1122H2 requirements

For example, if the value is TPM UEFISecureBoot, your device doesn’t meet the Windows 11 hardware requirements. So if you’ve tricked the TPM requirement when upgrading to Windows 11 on an unsupported device, you will not be able to install any more updates.

In this case, it might be better to downgrade from Windows 11 to Windows 10 as Microsoft will support Microsoft 10 until October 2025.
