I am trying to find an extension or edit the about:config to make every link that I click on open in a new tab. I know I can use Ctrl+Click or Right Click and select Open in New Tab, but I never think about it and then forget where I was doing work on and lost my trail.
I have tried Tab Mix Plus and I have tried everything in there to make it work but still doesn't work.
Thanks in advance.

Open tabs in background with middle click in Firefoxhttp://www.keanei.com/2011/02/17/open-tabs-in-background-with-middle-click-in-firefox/change one of the settings in the about:config page, which can be reached by entering ‘about:config’ in the address bar in Firefox. Then, enter ‘browser.tabs.loadDivertedInBackground’ into the Filter field which will display the setting. Double click and it will change to trueYou can see all of the "about:config" entries (including the "browser.tabs.loadDivertedInBackground" entry) here: http://kb.mozillazine.org/About:config_entries unwanted config line, you can remove (delete) it by following the instructions here:http://kb.mozillazine.org/Resetting_preferences

You don't need to do that. Just go to the Preferences -> Tabs section of Firefox and check the box that says 'Open new windows in a new tab instead'.It works for me and everyone else.

This only opens windows that would have opened in a new window, in a new tab. Windows that would have otherwise opened in the same tab still open in the same tab.
